Every year, thousands of animals are in need of rescue around the country. Whether they are family pets that can no longer be cared for, livestock kept in terrible conditions or animals that are the victims of deliberate acts of cruelty, there are times when people simply need to step in and help. However, thousands of animals every year are destroyed because existing services are simply overwhelmed, with limited time, space and resources to cope with the volume of animals in need of help. The World Wildlife Fund estimated that nearly 3 billion animals were killed or displaced by Australian bushfires in 2019-2020.
